YoungMi Choi

Combining passion, sensibility, and intellect, pianist Young-Mi Choi has established herself as a top-tier artist, captivating audiences with her profound musicality.

She graduated at the top of her class from Seoul Arts High School and Seoul National University. After winning prizes at prestigious competitions such as the Dong-A Music Competition and the KBS New Artist Music Competition, she moved to Germany, where she graduated with top honors from the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) and the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media (Konzertexamen). She furthered her studies at Indiana University South Bend as a full scholarship recipient, earning an Artist Diploma, and completed her Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree at Seoul National University with the highest honors.

Her international accolades include the Grand Prize at the Mendelssohn International Competition and 2nd Prize at the Pietro Argento International Competition. As a sought-after soloist, she has performed in major global cities, including a recital at the Berlin Philharmonie and the Myra Hess Memorial Concert in Chicago.

She has performed with numerous renowned orchestras, including the KBS Symphony Orchestra, Korean Symphony, Kyiv Symphony (Ukraine), Khabarovsk Symphony (Russia), and the Moldova National Philharmonic, among many others. In addition to her performing career, she is a dedicated educator, serving as an invited professor at international music festivals in Spain, Russia, and Korea.

A versatile musician, she performed the complete Prokofiev Piano Sonatas and was selected as a "Seoul Arts Center Artist." Currently, she is a Professor in the Department of Music Education at Seoul National University of Education and serves as the Director of the Institute for the Gifted in Music.
